I was happy to stay in a private room for the price but this is not a backpacker hostel

It was a good price, special deal, for a private room and queen-size bed. Once I figured out how to center myself between the braces in the mattress, I slept well. Tomas was welcoming and friendly. Despite the reviews that say the place is dirty, I found it to be clean. I have a fondness for institutional accommodations like this because it's easy to meet close-to-the-street locals and immigrants. For backpackers, this might not be ideal.

I was told on booking that I would be upgraded to a room with a kitchen or kitchenette but that turned out to be false. Walls were very thin and I could hear everyone in the building although most settled down by midnight. Luckily I have a white-noise generator on my phone. Common "kitchen" area was not really a kitchen. No burners or stove, just storage, a table, sinks, and outlets. Security was very bad. Front door could be opened from the outside just by reaching in and lifting a latch. (I was shown this bug by a resident.) Often, reception wasn't even at the desk. The door to my room could be easily forced. There were no lockers. The morning receptionist didn't speak and didn't take his eyes off his phone once. If you're looking for a typical backpacker hostel experience, this isn't it.

Disappointing

The staff was very friendly and the location is very good, two subway stations nearby and a bus stop right in front of it.

I am very sorry to say that it is impossible to rest here despite the fact it is a good value. Too noisy, people coming in and out early in the morning won't let you sleep. There was no privacy at all, everything could be heard from all the rooms around.

the location from zócalo square was within walking distance

The room was nothing like the photo and had no windows or air. the walls were paper thin and could hear conversations from 3 rooms down. the showers were filthy and communal with 2 showers shared between about 20 people. the staff were very unhelpful and the beds were very uncomfortable.

If you need strong internet and want to have a social experience this is not the place for you.

The water in the shower was actually warm.

This place was not clean, had very thin walls, and the internet was not strong. Also, this is not a place to meet other travelers.

Locality is in Centro historical which is good.

Total disappointment, with no other option we had to stay at this place. At first this is a hostel and not hotel or house, don't get fooled by the pictures. Rooms are very small and bed is not good at all. There are no cupboards in room to place things. I want to rate 2 out of 10 for this place.

Great Location, Horrible service.

I like the location of the hotel. That was pretty much about it.

To the staff of Booking.com. If you want to be associated with good quality level of hospitality services, then you better sever ties with this facility. It was below par with regards to everything it provided. I booked it out of convenience because of location and reviews it had. However upon arrival, there was no sign to the "Casa Zocalo"... ( my taxi driver couldnt find the address,). There was no toilet paper, and the cleanliness was really bad. Although there was a cleaning lady, it seems she only cleaned once a week. I paid for the whole time to have breakfast and I never got any( not because I did not want to but because breakfast did not start until 9am ( which they did not tell me until the 2nd day).. If I had to be out of the hotel by 8am, I wasnt going to wait an extra hour just to get breakfast. The beds smelled of cigarettes even though it said no smoking. This place also rents rooms on a monthly basis so there were people who basically used the place as a permanent address. The staff was extremely unhelpful and when I did ask for a couple of things like directions or options, I was given the "eye roll". The water in the shower was not warm at all and I had to make a choice, either shower cold or smell all day... I am now dealing with a cold as a result of that. I am extremely dissapointed that you would advertise this. I dont care if you care about my experience, but if you want to make sure people trust your website, you should really not advertise them. This was my first time booking with you... and its unfortunate that it happened this way. I wont not book again, but I only give 1 second chance. Thank You.
